May 2018 Beacon Knoll HOA Newsletter

 

 

It has been a number of months since our last newsletter.  Below are updates on a number of items from the Board.

 

Financial Items

  • The HOA continues to be in very good financial shape. As of the close of April the HOA’s income was right on track with the 2018 Budget projections.  Expenses for the year are approximately 3 percent under budget projections and the Board expects total budgeted expenses to be slightly under projections for the year base on the current outlook.

 

Pool Operations – The pool opened on May 1 and we are off to a smooth start.  The Board would like to remind everyone to observe all the posted safety rules.  In particular the Board would like to remind everyone that the gates must remained closed and latched at all times.  DHEC regulations prohibit propping or leaving the gates in an open position.  One addition reminder regarding glass containers – ABSOLUTEY NO GLASS is allowed in the pool area per DHEC.

 

July 4 Cookout – The Board is planning a cookout on July 4 at the gazebo / pool area.  More details will be sent out in the coming weeks.  We will need RSVP’s from those planning to attend to help plan this event.

 

Clubhouse Rentals and Use – The Board has received a number of inquiries and questions regarding the use of the clubhouse.  The Board would like to remind Beacon Knoll residents that the clubhouse is

  1. Available for rent by Beacon Knoll residents for private affairs.
  2. Available for other events hosted by the Board or any resident that are open to all Beacon Knoll residents.

The clubhouse is scheduled on a first come, first serve basis with reservations available by contacting Pam Wolfe.  The Board is going to make changes to the website so that it is easier to see dates where the clubhouse is already reserved.

 

Communications –Please remember to check the Beacon Knoll website (BeaconKnollHOA.com) for announcements and information.  You may also want to check our Facebook page as well.  You can add your name and email address to the Directory on the Beacon Knoll Website to receive announcements and updates via email. The Board is working on updating some of the items on the website including items regarding renting the clubhouse and gazebo area. 

 

General Items

  • The Board will be purchasing a couple of new signs regarding fishing by non-residents and a No Parking sign for the small pond near Lake Pointe road to help combat parking on the road in this area.
  • The Board has agreed to purchase new stop signs / street signs to help improve the appearance within Beacon Knoll – especially the intersections leading to the pool and clubhouse.
  • York County has been contacted regarding repair of the road at the entrance to the clubhouse area.  The road was damaged when a water line was cut while Comporium was installing high speed internet cable in the area.  The county has been slow to get this repaired.

 

Gazebo / Cabana Items

  • The Board is still investigating options for upgrading the current gazebo to a more modern structure including a new grill area and a fireplace.  The Board will provide more details in the coming weeks / months as the plans and options progress.
  • The Board would also like to remind all residents to reserve the gazebo if you are planning a group cookout or a similar function.  There is no charge to reserve the gazebo but the Board requests that you reserve it to avoid any conflicts with another group seeking to use the area.  We will also develop a way to determine if the gazebo is reserved.

 

Parking, Boats, Trailer and Other Items – The Board appreciates the positive response to the notice regarding parking on the street, and the parking of trailers and boats in driveways issued late last year.  Please continue to avoid parking on the street unless it is necessary and please be considerate of your neighbors by not impacting your neighbor’s driveways or access to their property.
